On December 15, 2006, Spencer left this Earth. The man that impacted our lives in so many ways passed unexpectedly from complications associated with pneumonia. He was 42. But in those short 42 years, Spencer touched more people than many who live to be 100. As friends and family of Spencer, you know what an awesome man he was. He battled physical maladies his entire life, yet always had a positive outlook. The strength and courage to face multiple heart surgeries in his young life showed through to all of us who are blessed to call him father, son, husband, brother, nephew, cousin, family or friend. His genuine interest in people never allowed a conversation to stop at “the weather.” Instead we all feel a depth with Spencer unlike any other. Nicholas, Christopher, and David will grow up without the day-to-day influence of their Dad. Kristen will do a fine job at raising those wonderful boys. However, it is going to be hard this year and the rest. It will be up to all of us to help Kristen teach them to remember their father like we do.
